To The Blue Sky. . .

Oh yes, and the new mewithoutYou comes out tomorrow. Do yourself a favor and pick it freaking up. Patrick is a whore and downloaded it early. I myself and savoring the sweet anticipation. But you know, here is an argument for filesharing: I once, long ago, had never heard mewithoutYou. But I had heard that they ruled. So I downloaded some of their stuff. And they rocked hard, so I bought the album, and now they are one of my favorite bands.

I'm a musician and I support filesharing.

Oh yes, and ETN is over for good. We decided to call it quits at lunch on Thursday, and I talked to Tim about it later. I don't think any of us are too bummed about it really. It's kind of been dead for a while, we just made it official.

Here's my story: I'm just sick of the Janesville "music scene" or rather, lack thereof. I'm sick of all the crap that goes along with being a part of it. When I started playing music in the 8th grade, I wasn't thinking about scene points. There was no scene. And when we started ETN we weren't trying to impress a bunch of middle schoolers (now freshmen and sophomores) and their stupid friends. Like, I just wanted to play music that I enjoyed and hoped that other people would enjoy it too. But instead it all just became this "oh, he said this crap about your band and how you suck, and blah, blah, and their band is better than yours." And it's like, whatever man. Like why not just play music to play music, not just to prove that you're better than us, or cooler than us or whatever. And like, have your own look or style or whatever, everyone does. But that shouldn't motivate everything you do and the music you listen to and who your friends are. Listen to music because it's good. Play music because it's fun. I just am done with music in Janesville.

Me and Zach did start another band a while back. We don't have a name. It's just us two. He plays guitar and I play drums. We just do instrumental stuff. I really like it though. I'm having a lot of fun with it, and that's encouraging, because I had really lost most all interest in playing music. But I am excited about this band. We will however, not be playing any shows in Janesville. And also, I'm not going to be organizing anymore shows either. It's too much work, and the kids who come don't care anyways.

Also, the following people have started a band: Zach Johnson, Ian Olsen, Jonathan Taube, and Eric Jackson. Nate Myatt may also be joining us if he feels so inclined. The band is tentatively named "Vorhees" and will be one large part grind, and another large part grind. And, ummm, one more large part sound clips. Mostly from movies that we have made ourselves. And also from "Aliens". And also from "Predator". And Saved By The Bell. We need someone who is good at guitar. Apply in person.
